For generations to come

Eneration comes from a combination of the words “energy” and “generation,” reflecting the company’s core mission. The name was born from the idea that Eneration’s impact begins day one and extends for generations to come.

From One Hospital’s Vision to a Nationwide Mission

Eneration was born out of a groundbreaking success story. Our team played a pivotal part in Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, Wisconsin, becoming the first healthcare system in the U.S. to achieve energy independence.

What started as one system’s commitment to sustainability quickly revealed a powerful truth: energy efficiency doesn’t just reduce operational costs—it empowers healthcare organizations to better live their mission to improve the health of the people, populations, and communities they serve.

That experience sparked a bigger purpose. We realized the same approach could help health systems across the country achieve meaningful cost savings, reduce environmental impact, and reinvest in what matters most—their mission to care for others. Eneration was created to bring that vision to life.

How we help healthcare organizations succeed

Our work is grounded in a clear understanding of healthcare operations, energy use, and the pressure to reduce costs without disrupting care. We meet you where you are—whether that’s tackling a single facility or exploring broader opportunities—and focus on what matters most to you.

With no upfront costs, no disruption to operations, and a track record of long-term savings, we help healthcare leaders take smart, practical steps toward sustainability and cost reduction.

  • We identify and implement energy-saving opportunities—lowering costs and improving performance without impacting day-to-day operations.

  • We partner from early design through occupancy to ensure new buildings hit energy performance goals and deliver long-term value.

  • We consult on renewable energy generation, such as solar, wind, and combined heat and power (CHP), to help healthcare organizations diversify energy sources and reduce carbon footprints.

We drive savings and advance your mission.

Eneration’s mission is to reduce the cost of healthcare while improving the world through energy sustainability. Our vision is to help healthcare organizations advance their mission by cutting energy use, lowering emissions, and freeing resources to focus on what matters most: caring for people, populations, and communities.

Over the next decade, we aim to:

  • Cut energy demand by 75 trillion Btus – a 10% reduction in total U.S. healthcare energy use

  • Eliminate 5 million tons of CO₂ emissions – equivalent to removing 1.1 million cars from U.S. roads

  • Generate $1 billion+ in cost savings – allowing healthcare systems to reinvest in care and community health
